Mike “SIURanger” Day wins the 2023 Tournament of Champions

Mike Day finally has his second ring. It came in dramatic fashion after an epic heads up battle with 2x ring winner AsinineBovine. In the end Mike found the title in the 2023 Tournament of Champions and his second ring, the coveted 2023 Player of the Year ring. The TOC consisted of all previous ring winners for the year, and a series of qualifiers where non ring winners could qualify for the event. The event ended up very exclusive as the ring winners won all but one of the qualifiers, as Jukomane was our only member to qualify for the event without a ring.

Mike talks about what the journey has been like for him:

“The past year has been a whirlwind. I would be lying if I didn’t say that I was letting doubters get to me in the beginning of the year. My confidence started to grow when I got 18th in the first ever $2.50 mystery bounty on ACR for my biggest ever cash (around $800) The feeling of “Hey, I CAN be successful at this” started creeping up in my head.

Based on the challenges I have had in my life, I knew hard work and dedication was going to be a huge part of my journey so I buckled down. As the results started to come in (Final Tabling an OSS Event, cashing a $33 buy-in) But all of the members in Team 100k took me in and even a few of them took me under their wing and helped me elevate my game exponentially. Couldn’t have done this without Team 100k”

Mike has been an inspiration to the team and the community, his growth on and off the poker felt has been fun to watch. Here is to an even bigger 2024.
